A Volvo truck, covered in graffiti, expected to reach over a million pounds at auction? Absolutely.
Banksy is both the mysterious darling of art collectors and cultural commentators, and arguably the UK’s most significant postwar contemporary artist. His works have risen in value faster even than the rarest Ferraris. Now, rather bizarrely, you could own a Volvo FL6 truck emblazoned with one of Banksy’s earliest artworks.
The artist began painting the truck at a party in Spain to celebrate the millennium, having been presented the truck by Mojo, the co-founder of Turbozone International Circus. He continued to work on the truck during the first two weeks of 2000, then handed it back to Turbozone who used it as transport around Europe and South America for many years.
The art-truck, named ‘Turbo Zone Truck (Laugh Now But One Day We’ll Be In Charge)’, is expected to fetch between £1m-£1.5m at the Bonhams Goodwood Revival auction on 14th September. It will be sharing the auction block with significant Aston Martins, Bugattis and Ferraris – but is likely to fetch one of the highest sale prices of the event.
So how could you win it? Well, JBR Capital’s funding experts see no reason to treat the truck any differently from an equivalently priced classic or hypercar. With that in mind, a pre-approved Auction Finance arrangement is being offered to give bidders confidence of success during the high-pressure auction environment. See below for a finance example.
