Pre-war machinery made the headlines, RM raising $5,725,000 for a 1929 Duesenberg Model J with one-off coachwork (estimate $3,500,000 – 4,000,000) and Bonhams’ 1934 Mercedes-Benz 500K/540K Spezial Roadster bringing $4,900,000 (estimate $4,500,000 – 5,000,000).
